The city of Ontario is one of the most populated and popular provinces in Canada. It’s also one of the largest in the country, second only to Quebec. The province houses many iconic attractions, all of which draw thousands of tourists and visitors year-round, and it’s not hard to see why. From the awe-inspiring skyscrapers to the majestic natural structures, formations, and views, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do in this beautiful city. 1. Learn at the Royal Ontario Museum

This is most certainly one of the more popular attractions in Ontario, and also holds the title of the biggest museum in the country. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is located in central Toronto and has been standing since 1914. It showcases a whopping collection of over 13 million objects, mostly comprised of art, culture, and natural history artifacts collected from around the globe, from the age of establishment till today. 

The museum also displays many famous exhibits such as the Samuel Hall Curelly Gallery and the Thorsell Spirit House, both individual architectural wonders in their own right. It’s one of Canada’s main research institutions and national landmarks, also serving as a great educational experience for any traveler or visitor.

2. Experience The CN Tower

Second, only to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa in stature, Ontario’s CN Tower is an amazing feat of human design. The building rises from the center of Toronto and serves as a landmark for many since it can be viewed from pretty much anywhere in the city. Boasting a height of 553 meters (1,815 feet), it’s a magnet for most thrill seekers looking to test their limits. The tower offers many experiences, the most popular being the EdgeWalk, SkyPod, and a LookOut level, all of which boast breathtaking views of the city. 

With floor-to-ceiling windows, doors, and even floors, the LookOut level is certainly an adrenaline rush, except for those with a fear of heights, since it may prove to be a rather anxiety-inducing experience entirely. The SkyPod goes 33 stories higher to deliver an even more spectacular view of the surroundings, particularly during the nighttime hours. 

For those wishing to do more than just sightseeing, the tower also offers the EdgeWalk. Visitors are given the opportunity to walk around the outside of the tower with a tour guide, secured by harnesses and rails. The tour is about one-and-a-half hours, a third of which is spent traversing the circumference of the outside of the building. Truly a thrill-seeker’s dream, the CN Tower is certainly a must-do when in Ontario. It’s the one guarantee you have of seeing the entire city in one day anyway. 

3. Capitalize on the Capital’s Best

 As we travel further north to Ontario’s capital city, Ottawa, the experiences get no less exciting. For the average sports fan, this is definitely the place to be. The Lumberjack, Leviathan, Behemoth, and more recently, the Yukon Striker, are some of the more notable rides, however, there are still so many more deserving of a mention. 

The popular waterpark, Splash Works, presents a variety of water sports such as slides, wave pools, lazy river floats, water playgrounds, and a kids’ pool, affectionately named the Lakeside Lagoon. The park spans 20 acres and also hosts live shows and special events.
