If the Canadian Football League doesn’t quite do it for you as a fan of the big game, the good news is that there are plenty of options for Canadians when it comes to the NFL. It will depend upon where you are in the country, of course, but if you can get to the south of Canada then you can travel to an NFL stadium without the need to rely on airline travel – although you’ll need a reliable car, it should be said! So here’s a quick guide to the NFL team that you could support based upon your location, and the different things you can see and do if you find yourselves in a football-loving city.

From Vancouver…

It will take just under three hours to drive from Vancouver to Seattle and, while in the Emerald City, you might want to take a trip to Lumen Field – home of the Seattle Seahawks. You’ll be treated to some excellent football, with the Seahawks winning the NFC West in 2020 before bowing out in the first round of the playoffs. Seattle is a city packed with things to see and do, and you can enjoy a ride on the monorail and take in the sights which include the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, and the Museum of Pop Culture. There’s a fantastic heritage of music, theatre, and arts in Seattle and, with some game-changing eateries and restaurants, everything is in place in Seattle for a fantastic long weekend.

From Ontario…

If you’re willing to do the hard yards behind the wheel, there are stacks of options for football fans from Ontario. Your first stop-off might be Minneapolis, where a slow start in 2020 prevented the Vikings from making the playoffs. If food and beautiful scenery are your bags, then a trip to one-half of the Twin Cities comes highly recommended. The riverfront is known for its tasty food stalls and restaurants, while a walk by the Minnehaha Falls will surely bring on a feeling of inner peace.

Further east we have Wisconsin, home to the legendary Green Bay Packers. They made it all the way to the NFC Championship final in 2020, losing out to eventual Super Bowl winners Tampa Bay, and they are perennially among the favorites for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Indeed, they are available at +1500 in the Super Bowl winner NFL odds on bet365, which means they are one of the more fancied teams. If you are looking to take in a ball game in 2021 or into next year, Wisconsin is a great destination for football fans in Ontario.

From Toronto and Montreal…

Let’s face it, the perfect destination for a long (emphasis on the long) weekend for Toronto and Montreal natives is New York City. You don’t need us to give you the lowdown on a trip to the Big Apple – there are enough sights to see to keep you active for multiple weekends, plus fantastic eateries, bars, music, and culture.

There’s the choice of two football teams too. The New York Jets and the Giants play at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and, while both have been in the doldrums for a while, a fantastic experience is guaranteed spectating either. As you can see, Canadians are only a short drive away when it comes to football – there are options available that can easily be incorporated into a long weekend away.
