Back for another summer,  grab your family, friends and anyone who loves berries to visit Wilmot Orchards in Newcastle, Ontario. Located an hour east of Toronto, from late July to early August, you can pick your own bucket of blueberries. This family-owned, women-run farm makes for the perfect scenic summer day trip. Pick from 11 varieties of highbush blueberries to bring home and eat fresh or bake into your favourite treat. 

The pick-your-own blueberry season is short, but in those few weeks from late July to early August, you’re bound to get the freshest, juiciest and tastiest blueberries picked right from the patch. Open from Wednesday to  Friday from 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM and on Saturday and Sunday until 4:30 PM, picking season can be a busy time to visit, so you’ll want to reserve your picking time online ahead of time.

Not only can you pick your blueberries, but while at the farm, make time to swing by the cafe for a fresh-baked blueberry-themed treat, a refreshing beverage or a scoop of ice cream at the on-site AppleBerries Café. Known for their staples, you won’t want to go home before trying either the cheesecake, coffee cake, tarts, or squares made with their freshly picked blueberries. If you can’t get enough of the treat, they also sell blueberry sauces, teas, jams and jellies to bring home and add to your favourite meal.
