Naples (2 days)
The city of Naples has a character unlike any other in Italy. Come for the pizza, stay for the vibrant culture. The historic center of Naples has been labeled a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to 448 churches; the most in one city in the world! After a long day touring the city, relax for the true Neapolitan pizza margherita and a refreshing glass of Italian red wine.
Pompeii (1 day)
The Gulf of Naples offers a stunning view of Mt. Vesuvius and the islands of that surround it. Take the local Circumvesuviana train (40 minutes) from the Naples Central train station and spend the day uncovering the ancient Roman city that has been frozen in time under volcanic rock since AD 79. For the more adventurous, take the bus to the base of Mt. Vesuvius and hike to the summit for a breathtaking view of the region.
Capri (1 day)
Venture away from the mainland and uncover the stunning island of Capri. Take the ferry from Naples to the island port where you will be greeted by the stunning views of the town perched on the hill and the fresh scent of the lemon trees. Follow the winding path up to the town of Anacapri to see the wonderful shops and sights. Be sure not to miss the Blue Grotto (Grotto Azzurra), for the wondrous views of the turquoise hues shimmering off the water in this water cave.
Sorrento (2 days)
Take the ferry from Capri to the cliffs visit the vibrant town of Sorrento along the Campania coast. Get lost in the beautiful architecture and cafes that line streets in this town or take a dip in the beaches along the harbour. This bustling seaside town is also home to the Archeological Museum of the Sorrentine Peninsula as well as a variety of art musuems.
The Amalfi Coast (4 days)
The local SITA bus network is an easy and affordable way to visit the Amalfi Coast. Leaving from Sorrento, make your way across the Sorrentine Peninsula to the coastline. We stayed the idyllic town of Amalfi and travelled on day trips to visit the surrounding region. There are many day trips to choose along this stretch of land, but this region is most known for the towns of Positano and Ravello.
Ravello-Located on the hills above Amalfi, it is worth the hike from Amalfi (45 minutes) up the winding staircases for the stunning views of the Mediterranean.
Positano– Follow the paths down through Positano into the heart of town shops filled with artisan crafts. Relax on the brilliant beaches enclosed by the town on the cliffs above you.
