Finding a gift that feels personal but also something that your family and friends will love can be hard, but you can’t go wrong with a custom illustration. Goose & Pebble helps you capture the moments in your life with a custom-drawn portrait that is the perfect engagement, wedding, or housewarming gift. We sat down with them to learn about their company and how to order a custom illustration that your friends and family will want to hang on their walls.
1. Tell us a little bit about Goose & Pebble
The idea for Goose & Pebble was first hatched when I set out to design my own wedding invitations, and discovered that there is nothing quite as special as a personalized gift shared with the people we love. This led to my desire to share the joy of unique gift-giving with the world.
At Goose & Pebble, we understand the significance of the relationships we hold dear, and believe that the most important people in our lives deserve to be celebrated in a heartfelt way.
Goose & Pebble specializes in custom hand-drawn portraits created from your favorite photographs. Our illustrations feature a black-and-white style that is minimalistic and modern, making it perfect for any home decor. We plan to expand this personalization to items such as tote bags, apparel and stationery in the near future. Through these personalized creations, we hope to capture precious moments with your loved ones, creating cherished keepsakes for years to come. We also wish to simplify the gift-shopping process by offering authentic, heartfelt gifts that are sure to bring smiles to your loved ones’ faces.
2. Do you see more couples or families ordering custom portraits?
Custom family portraits are our most popular and highly-requested item in the shop, with pet portraits coming in second. We do have an increase in couples placing orders for couple portraits for Valentine’s Day, or for a special occasion (eg. weddings), but many couples love to include a pet or other family members in their custom hand-drawn wedding portraits as well!
One of the most popular aspects of our custom illustrations is our ability to create hand-drawn portraits from composite photos. This allows you to combine people from multiple photos into a single portrait, and is a great way to include loved ones who have passed in your illustration.
3. Do you have any tips on where to display the portrait in your home?
The size of your portrait greatly determines where it can be displayed in your home. Our 6″ x 8″ framed prints, that come ready to hang, are ideal for displaying on a shelf or for hanging on small wall spaces, while our 30 x 40 cm framed prints with a mat border are perfect for larger walls in living areas. Should you require a different size, we offer our portraits as digital downloads as well, allowing you to print them to fit the dimensions that best suit your space.
Besides the main living and dining areas, our baby birth posters and child & baby portraits would work really well in a children’s playroom or nursery, adding a charming touch to these spaces where your little ones grow and play.
4. If you’re ordering a custom portrait, do you have any tips on the style of image to share?
We are able to work from any photo (old photos, photos of photos, cropped photos, screenshots) as long as the photo is of reasonable quality, in focus and not dimly-lit, as this is ultimately what the illustration is based on. For composite photos, we ask that you submit photos taken from a similar angle to ensure seamless merging in your illustration. If you are unsure, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to work out a solution with you, so that the final product is one that you are truly satisfied with!
